Buju gets 10 hard ones in Florida but may be out by 2017. The Gargamel seh.. May Buju also get inspiration from his music find the strength to go through. Its not an easy road......

Its been a few months since I put a fresh mix out as I've been preoccupied with the Kaleidoscope nights, among other things. This one's built around my sets there last weekend when we failed to get a live recording on the night. A multi-era collection, mixing up old with new and nuff between... Starts with rootsy selections before moving onto more upbeat reggae-dancehall vibes later. Plenty version excursions & nuff big tune.

Juggling the Bucket Bottom (Fine Style/Freedom Sounds/Irie Ites) with a deadly new cut from Mark Wonder's fine new LP for Nowtime Sound. Penthouse come strong again with updates of  El Shaddai, Culture's Natty Never Get Weary, Miss Wire Waist (Impact/Penthouse) and Horace Andy's Every Tongue Shall Tell featuring a notable return to the mic stand for the Lone Ranger! Digital B does a ruff new relick of the Dub Organizer played here alongside older cuts on Digital B, Upsetter, Impact & Jammys. Other riddim like the Herb Family (More Life), Love Me Forever/Hit The Road Jack (Big Youth/Juggling/Star Trail), Chi Chi Bud (Joe Frazier), Doctors Darling/Night Nurse (Germaican/Island), Just Another Girl (Virgin/Impact) and Kayla Bliss' brand new single Red Hott mix up with the Alton Ellis original Can I Change My Mind (Coxsone/XTM Nation).

The best of Glen Brown's early output as a vocalist alongside some initial production efforts. Much of Glen's work focused on harmony duos and groups in the 1960's, following a stint with Sonny Bradshaw's Jazz, though he also did some wicked solo sides. He'd begun to experiment with instrumentals by the 70's. Featuring duos as Glen & Dave (Dave Barker), Hopetown & Glen (Hopeton Lewis), Lloyd & Glen (Lloyd Robinson) Maxie & Glen (Max Romeo) and Glen & Jimmy (an obscure vocalist at the Upsetter camp - anyone know a who dat?), and fine sides from vocal groups Marcus & The Musketeers and The Graduates (Glen Brown, Joe White & Trevor Shields).

Established nu roots stars like Sizzla, Luciano, Capleton and Tony Rebel stand alongside veterans Barrington Levy, Gregory Isaacs and Everton Blender, while emerging talent like Morgan Heritage, Daweh Congo, Anthony B and Bushman come on strong. A real highlight of that year was the Reggae Day at Finsbury Park, London. A whole heap a artist come down - Beenie Man, Anthony B, Everton Blender, Macka B, Earl 16, U-Roy, Danny Red, Mad Prof. etc. etc... I missed (the ever-disappointing) Lee Perry as he was on at the same time, on another stage from Beenie who was magnificent... no contest who to watch there!
