A Natural Mystic - Inspired By Bob Marley

There's a natural mystic blowing through
the air... heathen back deh
The mid-90s 'nu roots revolution' evolved as producers & artists, having licked over vintage dancehall beats to saturation, looked again to 70s roots for fresh I-speration. This 'rediscovery' was expressed both in the rhythm tracks & lyrically

Friday Night Rewind on hearticalfm.com
 every week 6pm UK / 19h. Fr.
Continuous mix 2 hours

Starts & ends with Bob Marley's Natural Mystic & Heathen along with the Chalawa dub versions and then a few Bobby Digital tracks in remembrance.

Rest in power King Bobby

Riddim like Digital B's Cuss Cuss & Mr Bassie, I Can't Stand It (Xterminator), Natural Mystic (Ffrench, Shocking Vibes, Digital B, Kronic), African Beat (Fat Eyes), more cuts of Don't Try To Use Me (Digital Eclipse), Star Trail's Preacherman, and the awesome Heathen (Digital B, X-Rated & Penthouse). STINGRAY ROOTS & CULTURE SESSION

STINGRAY RECORDS SPECIAL
Roots selections from 1994 up to now..
Rewind Show on rastfm.com 23rd March 2019

Champions of Yard-style music in England, STINGRAY RECORDS LONDON has been keeping UK reggae moving forward ever since the McLeod brothers founded the label in 1994. Their West London studio continues to record some of the biggest names in reggae music from Jamaica, the UK & further afield.
For a full bio & info visit their website http://stingrayrecordslondon.com/about

Over 50 tracks here by an impressive array of artists. Strictly culture selections here - we don't venture into the extensive Stingray lovers rock catalogue at all this time: perhaps another show...

Tuff riddim like the I Love King Selassie I, Free Up The Vibes, Rope In, Jah Love, Boops, Hypocrites, Craven Dog, Wolves & Leopards, Cuss Cuss, Peace & Love, Caution, the brutal Bloody City, Tamarind Juice, rootical updates of the Zion Pathway & None A Jah Jah Children plus the amazing Coxsone Dodd inspired Vampire.

This was my last session before I take a short break from broadcasting. We gotta move house this month so I need to focus all of my attention on that for a while (its a pain in the butt though its kind of exciting sametime). Looking forward to getting a new studio together and moving forward. Thanks as ever to all listeners and friends... Siamroots-ites, rastfm family, mixcloud reggae massive, twitter crew...BLESSUP

Who Can Feel Must Hear!

Who Can Feel Must Hear Mixtape
Heavy roots selections 2014

Starts with Iba Mahr's Glory Of The King on a wicked Channel One style rhythm (Royal Order) then a Bushman classic 'Knowledge' on the Trying To Conquer Me (Ruff Cut 2001). Island Life records come with yet another roots scorcher, the Who Can't Hear Must Feel, an update of Santic's  Problems/Lovers Mood with cuts by Richie Spice, Lutan Fyah, Everton Blender, Luciano, and the brilliant 'So Hard' by Adventurous. Killer dub version also. Ffrenchie's Imperial Crown (Maximum Sound) is a rootsdub style keyboard-driven rhythm featuring uplifting melodica from Addis Pablo and some conscious vocal cuts. King Tubbys Dub Plate Style (also Maximum Sound) is another updated classic, this time Striker Lee's Ali Baba. 'Trials & Tribulation' by Ras Demo is classic roots. Bury the barber...! Stingray bring back the Brentford Road vibes with Freddie McGregor for a fresh relick of the Bobby Babylon/Hi Fashion riddim. Another Studio One veteran Johnny Osbourne makes a welcome reappearance with reality tune 'Why' on the Way Back (Akom) alongside Lutan Fyah, Million Stylez and Lukie D. NYC band Morning Sun & The Essentials stay with the reality on Highrises (End Of Era). Hear the Love Agenda EP on their soundcloud page. Mykal Rose & Treson combine for Life On The Rocks (Pha Real). Good to hear Natural Black back on form on 'If You Did Know' for Jammys. Pressure, Tarrus & Junior Gong blaze it up on 'Mental Disturbance' taken from Busspipe's Africa Redemption LP for Yard Vibes

 Continuous mix. 79 minutes.
