Brentford Road Roots Part 2 - Studio One

Brentford Road Roots Selections Part Two.
Vocal - deejay - dubwize... Coxsone Dodd kept up with all the musical trends of the time and recorded some devastating roots rhythms right through the 70s into the 80s.
Riddim like the Drum Song, Rocking Time, Satta Masagana, Mean Girl, Conquer Me, Something On My Mind, Door Peep, Heptones Gonna Fight and the excellent Take A Ride/Truth and Rights (both cuts here). All killers. Rare sides from Winston Francis, George Allen, Linval (Linton) Cooper, the Jay Tees and deejay Jah Scotchie.

Continuous mix. 79 minutes.

Thanks again to SELECTOR BRIXTON RAT in Budapest

Glen Brown & Friends - Vintage Revival Selections 1967-72

 Glen Brown & Friends
Ska, Rocksteady & Reggae Selections 1967-72

The best of Glen Brown's early output as a vocalist alongside some initial production efforts. Much of Glen's work focused on harmony duos and groups in the 1960's, following a stint with Sonny Bradshaw's Jazz, though he also did some wicked solo sides. He'd begun to experiment with instrumentals by the 70's. Featuring duos as Glen & Dave (Dave Barker), Hopetown & Glen (Hopeton Lewis), Lloyd & Glen (Lloyd Robinson) Maxie & Glen (Max Romeo) and Glen & Jimmy (an obscure vocalist at the Upsetter camp - anyone know a who dat?), and fine sides from vocal groups Marcus & The Musketeers and The Graduates (Glen Brown, Joe White & Trevor Shields).

Labels: Doctor Bird, Fab, Stag, Treasure Isle, Studio One, GGs, Coxsone, Harry J, Beverleys, Flame, Bra, Upsetter, Darace, Shalimar and Glen Brown's own Pantomine.

Continuous mix. 96 minutes.
