Rocking Time - Late 70s Revival Vinyl Mix

Rocking Time - Selections from the late-70's. Cool & easy revival mixtape made up of rips from my 7 & 12'' collection. Incorporates various styles of the day, varying from roots to big people revival vibes. Runs vocals into deejay cut into dub version or blazing instrumentals inna true discomix style... Some real timeless classics here like the Phase One classic rockers cut of Waiting in the Park by the Chantells, Owen Gray's cover of When I Need You or Trevor Hartley's combination with U-brown on Selassie-I. Singer Ras Midas with a dread version of the Paragon's rocksteady hit Same Song. Ends with a personal favorite of mine, the sublime Going Is Rough by Jimmy London. 49 tracks.
Continuous mix. 79 minutes.

Productions from Junjo Lawes, Niney, Prince Jammy, Sly & Robbie, Jah Shaka and several others. Remix of the Tuff Gong's Roots Rock Reggae Dub and Shaka's earth-shattering dub version of Johnny Clarke's Babylon.

Roots-Dancehall Selections Vol. 2 - Don Carlos & Idren

Roots-Dancehall Selections Volume 2 (1978-84)
Don Carlos & Idren

More classic roots and roots-dancehall hit tunes and rarities inna 12'' discomix style with deejay cuts and dub versions. Roots Radics predominant with nuff Junjo Lawes, Sly & Robbie and Prince Jammy productions among many others. In many ways the start of the 1980s was an exceptionally good, creative period for reggae music. The move towards a more dancehall-friendly (and less militant) sound began late in the 70s and borrowed heavily from the traditions and rhythms of rocksteady of over a decade earlier.
