Ras Midas - The One Love Revolution

RastFM webradio & Siamrootsical proudly present the
I-fficial RAS MIDAS mixtape
THE ONE LOVE REVOLUTION

Released as part of our RASTFM INTERNATIONAL ARTIST OF THE MONTH celebrations this mix is a career perspective with choice selections taken from across the artist's 40+ years of releases and includes dubs & interviews specially recorded for the session..

Ras Midas the 'Rastaman In Exile', the 'Musical Prophet' hails from Clarendon Jamaica and began his career in 1968. He had his first major success KUDE A BAMBA in 1976 with Harry J's. The record was released by Island records and went on to be an international reggae hit. The song is sung partly in Swahili and is popular in many African countries. It was followed by the acclained RAIN & FIRE LP and a chain of singles for Harry J, Jaywax, Tribes Man and other labels into the 1980s, including the inspirational JAH JAH SAME LOVE.  He also teamed up with deejay I Roy for several 12''s.

Ras Midas is a talented songwriter, a man with a message, and his songs have depth & a strong meditative quality to the lyrics. An extended period of extensive travelling and break for studies helped develop his RASTAMAN IN EXILE theme & the classic LP of that name. These ideas speak not to rastas alone.. but all dispossed and uprooted people around the globe who end up living as expats and refugees. The songs on this set are thus timeless and resonate today as strongly as ever.

After his STAND UP WISE UP album with Sylvan Morris in 1984 Midas moved into self-production releasing four other albums between international tours, including the excellent REACHING OUT & FIRE UP sets from 2006 & 2010 respectively. He is currently working on a One Love Revolution set of new songs.

Compiled/mixed by Paul Rootsical & Selector Sleng Teng.
Project unity & direction from Selector Shikydraks. Thanks to Rockin Rocco, Dub Libertad & Selector Seb for their contributions.
Continuous mix. 99 minutes.

Special thanks to Ras Midas' agent Nan Lewis of Entertainment Works, zoomzoom....
Also giving thanks to the man himself for his direct involvement in everything from the start. Its been a real pleasure... BLESSED LOVE

THE RASTAMAN IN EXILE LP has been digitally mastered and is finally now available on CD & mp3 download. Available at Amazon, CDBaby, Bandcamp & all good retailers.
