Orthodox Twelve Tribes Nyabinghi

Spotlight on the Orthodox label
12 Tribes of Israel Band and related artists.
Rewind Show on rastfm.com 27 Feb 2020
Selections run from 1973 to around 2009
Collection of often beautifully obscure roots music. The 12 Tribes have been based in the US for many years and have backed many reggae greats on tour over there. Their initial works were released mid-70s into the 80s and they resumed production work again in the late 90s, recording foundation veterans as well as artists with links to the international Twelve Tribes Organization, including in London & Manchester.

Continuous mix 2 hours
The spiritual orientated but little known Dan Hutson & The Seers recorded a series of great songs for Orthodox over the years while the 12 Tribes got Black Ark legend & songwriter Sangie Davis back into the studio in 2000 to voice an album of deeply spiritual and uplifting songs. Orthodox Issachar also recorded 3 albums. Little Roy & Ian Rock featured heavily in the mid-70s along with a host of relatively unknown singers. Their best known track is probably Why Worry by Israel Vibration. There are also links with Judy Mowatt and her Ashandan label. Vocal trio The Visionaires recorded at Orthodox in the early 80s

Despite a separation in time & space the music has a unity of spirit and purpose that blends nicely...

Features tracks from the excellent TTI SHOWCASE VOL. 1 LP released in 1980
and the later 12 Voices Showcase - TTI London (no cover)

Also the Nebuchadnezzar King Of Babylon LP from 1978 backed by the 12 Tribes
