Top Ranking Roots From Tommy Cowan's Talent Corporation

Top Ranking Roots
Tommy Cowan's Talent Corporation

Heartical 3-part 70s roots mix. Brings together sides from producer, manager & promoter Tommy Cowan's Talent Corporation family of record labels - Arab, Starapple, Talent77, Talent & Sweet City. Cowan also collaborated with the Lewis brothers, releasing much of his catalogue on their Top Ranking imprint.

Cowan produced for reggae groups like Israel Vibration, Zap Pow, the Cordells & the Cimarons as well as solo artists like Winston McAnuff, Eric Donaldson, Devon Irons, Horace Andy, David Jahson, Ras Michael, Augustus Pablo. Earl Zero, Trinity & most frequently Jacob Miller & Inner Circle, but also many classic hard-to-find songs by much lesser known artists like the Blue Bells, Bandolos, Beach Commers, Ras Keatus I, Two Rasta Man, Little Madness & many more... . TC also released tunes by a number of other producers. Recordings mostly from Tuff Gong, Channel One, Black Ark, Harry J's & Dynamic. Kiler dubs by the Fatman Riddim Section, Roots Rockers & Talent Crew.

Upful roots & culture selection. Vocal, dubwize & occasional deejay cuts. Many essential but obscure gems line up alongside better known roots anthems. Dates roughly to 1975-1980. Over 150 track samples over the  three volumes.
Continuous mix. 3X 90 minutes.

Equal Rights 2011 - The Bush Doctor Remembered...

Equal Rights 2011 - Peter Tosh Remembered...

2011's already weighing in heavier than last year with a lot of variety, some strong releases and the emergence of upcoming artists like Joggo Seedorf  and Jesse Royal. Excursions pon the Message (Don Carleon), Strangers On My Shore (Tuff Nut), Trouble You A Trouble Me (Tuff Gong), Island Life (Chimney) and more cuts of the Jah Army (Ghetto Youths). Penthouse lead the tributes on Equal Rights and Igziabeher (Penthouse/Gedion). Exterminator have rebuilt the dubby, jazzed up Royalty riddim (aka Jah Is Love/As A Friend) where Sizzla & Turbulence re-voice 2004 tunes, while Jesse Royal lets rip in strictly conscious mode.
