STINGRAY RECORDS SPECIAL
Roots selections from 1994 up to now..
Rewind Show on rastfm.com 23rd March 2019

Champions of Yard-style music in England, STINGRAY RECORDS LONDON has been keeping UK reggae moving forward ever since the McLeod brothers founded the label in 1994. Their West London studio continues to record some of the biggest names in reggae music from Jamaica, the UK & further afield.
For a full bio & info visit their website http://stingrayrecordslondon.com/about

Over 50 tracks here by an impressive array of artists. Strictly culture selections here - we don't venture into the extensive Stingray lovers rock catalogue at all this time: perhaps another show...

Tuff riddim like the I Love King Selassie I, Free Up The Vibes, Rope In, Jah Love, Boops, Hypocrites, Craven Dog, Wolves & Leopards, Cuss Cuss, Peace & Love, Caution, the brutal Bloody City, Tamarind Juice, rootical updates of the Zion Pathway & None A Jah Jah Children plus the amazing Coxsone Dodd inspired Vampire.

This was my last session before I take a short break from broadcasting. We gotta move house this month so I need to focus all of my attention on that for a while (its a pain in the butt though its kind of exciting sametime). Looking forward to getting a new studio together and moving forward. Thanks as ever to all listeners and friends... Siamroots-ites, rastfm family, mixcloud reggae massive, twitter crew...BLESSUP

Siamrootsical Roots & Culture Mix 2015

Siamrootsical Roots & Culture Mix 2015

Fifth annual end-of-year new roots collection, bringing together some of the seasons bigger conscious releases. Strictly positive, ital roots selections a play... Exco levi broke new ground with his brilliant Country Man LP for Penthouse, as well as voicing  high energy sides for several producers, while musical obeah man King Mas has really turned up the heat with a series of devastating reality songs - looking forward to a new LP from him.  Micah Shemaiah also made waves with his deeply rooted Original Dread set for Decadent Records. All three artists feature heavily here. Protoje hit big with the excellent Ancient Future. Producers @Jamrockvybz put out some fine roots tunes in 2015 with Kazam Davis, Luciano, kIing ITal and Chezidek - check Marijuana: Real Green Gold.- the real Ganjaella... @nowtimesound created a finely textured modern roots soundtrack for Mark Wonder's Scrolls Of The Levite LP, for me the production of the year

Longtime riddim mix it with some wicked new originals. Will Tee's rocking remake of the Shank I Sheck runs with the Dub Specialist cut (Studio 1) beautifully. The Green Lion Crew's Ganja Morning is a relick of Desi Roots' Weed Fields. Disobey (Rebelmadiaq) is reminiscent of the Promise Land. Junior Gong reissued the On The Corner with new vocals from Chronixx, Jesse Royal & Iba Mahr. The Gunshot is back with fresh cuts by Overstand & Flava McGregor. Penhouse revisit two classics - Since I Throw The Comb Away and El Shaddai. More excursions on the  Hungry Dayz (LTL), The Empire (Riddim Wize), Freedom Fire (Independent Works) and the Go with Jah (Taitu)

Continuous mix 79 minutes

Paul Rootsical & Ras Dan-I - Midnight Session - November 2015

Paul Rootsical & Ras Dan-I - Midnight Session feat. Marius MC. 13 November 2015.
Roots soundtape from Kaleidoscope session at the New Beehive Bradford.
Strictly roots set. Conscious mic from Bradford sound system veteran Dan-I & Marius MC. Rhythm track old and new like the Slavemaster (Volcano), Disobey (Rebelmadiaq) and the Ganja Morning (Green Lion) - an inventive relick of Desi Roots' classic Weedfields (also played here). Taxi Gang hit Baltimore also gets a dusting off as the Lion Inna Den (Iron Gate Sound). More excursions on the Rope In (Clive Hunt & Xterminator), I Know Myself + Praise Ye Jah (Xterminator), Jah Love/Warn the Nation (Prophet/Massive B), Truth & Rights (Studio1/Massive B), General Penitentiary (Penthouse/Sly&Robbie) and finishing up with the Twinkle Brothers' thunderous Faith Can Move Mountains + dub.

It was a good night all round. More thanks to Dan-I, Marius, Spaceport7 and all the Kaleidoscope Crew. Roll on the next party on December 11th.
