Who Can Feel Must Hear!

Who Can Feel Must Hear Mixtape
Heavy roots selections 2014

Starts with Iba Mahr's Glory Of The King on a wicked Channel One style rhythm (Royal Order) then a Bushman classic 'Knowledge' on the Trying To Conquer Me (Ruff Cut 2001). Island Life records come with yet another roots scorcher, the Who Can't Hear Must Feel, an update of Santic's  Problems/Lovers Mood with cuts by Richie Spice, Lutan Fyah, Everton Blender, Luciano, and the brilliant 'So Hard' by Adventurous. Killer dub version also. Ffrenchie's Imperial Crown (Maximum Sound) is a rootsdub style keyboard-driven rhythm featuring uplifting melodica from Addis Pablo and some conscious vocal cuts. King Tubbys Dub Plate Style (also Maximum Sound) is another updated classic, this time Striker Lee's Ali Baba. 'Trials & Tribulation' by Ras Demo is classic roots. Bury the barber...! Stingray bring back the Brentford Road vibes with Freddie McGregor for a fresh relick of the Bobby Babylon/Hi Fashion riddim. Another Studio One veteran Johnny Osbourne makes a welcome reappearance with reality tune 'Why' on the Way Back (Akom) alongside Lutan Fyah, Million Stylez and Lukie D. NYC band Morning Sun & The Essentials stay with the reality on Highrises (End Of Era). Hear the Love Agenda EP on their soundcloud page. Mykal Rose & Treson combine for Life On The Rocks (Pha Real). Good to hear Natural Black back on form on 'If You Did Know' for Jammys. Pressure, Tarrus & Junior Gong blaze it up on 'Mental Disturbance' taken from Busspipe's Africa Redemption LP for Yard Vibes

I&I Neva Run Away Mixtape 2014

I&I Neva Run Away
 Reggae eternal...

Evergreen rhythm track like the righteous Swell Headed. Old & new with cuts on the Studio 1 & Channel One versions. Leads with the original Burning Spear classic. Great Freddie McGregor cover from the early 80s also (on Spiderman). Chronixx vybes for the excellent World under Siege (Roots Tribulation) while U Roy & Kabaka hold the deejay corner. We revisit the rocking Swing Heavy-Swing Easy (Bizzarri/Iration) with cuts by Lutan Fyah, Lion D and Turbulence. Dubtonic Kru hold on still on the Tantrum (White Stone). Solid roots revival vibes for Bob Marley & The Wailer's Revolution riddim (Jahsolidrock & Cousins) and Glen Brown's No More Slaving (Island Life) featuring another great Jah Bouks tune - No Slave. Chronixx lights up the Cultivator (Royal Order), Digital B's Islamabad (the superb Iyah Walk) and teams up with Protoje for the roots-rock-reggae hit Who Knows (Overstand/Winta James). Essential roots-dancehall selection Going Home from Larger Than Life Records. Iba Mahr & Droop Lion blaze up on the Diseases Rebirth (Sajay). Wordsmith King Mas hits us with another lyrical tour-de-force, Reflection, more food for thought... Conscious UK selection from Dawna Lee's Rebel Souls LP for Mikey Simpson's MCS Records (2001). Winston Reedy's relick of his Cimarons hit Mother Earth (Mafia & Fluxy) is as relevant as ever. Haunting melodica melodies courtesy of Pablove Black and Addis Pablo...

SiamRootsical Roots & Culture Mix 2013

Roots N Culture Mix 2013

Looking back on a great year for roots reggae as the excitement builds around a new generation of conscious artists. Jah9's New Name album is a modern classic while Chronixx visited the UK to wide acclaim alongside deejay Dre Island who broke through this year with some tuff sides like Find Dem Flaw and What Is Mine Is Mine. Check his Rastafari Way Mixtape by king I-Vier. Kabaka Pyramid keeps dropping tune after essential tune (like Liberal Opposer & Worldwide Love featured here). Check his new EP, Lead The Way, on Soundcloud. Lutan Fyah's new album Life Of A King is perhaps his best LP to date, thanks in part to some cutting edge production from Grillaras. See the release material on Reggaeville. Deejay Chuck Fenda makes a long overdue return with a new LP, Jah Element, for John John. Preview two tracks on the mixtape, combinations with longtime spar Junior Reid and Johnny Clarke. Lloyd Brown keeps the revival vibes flowing throughout his excellent Rootical LP, an earthy collaboration with producers Zion High. Vocalist Sara Lugo continues to impress with her Smile of a Child for Flash Hit Records.

Usual mix of updated classic riddim and originals. Selection like the Worldwide Love (Flash Hit), a thunderous update of Horace Andy's Money Money (Grillaras), Skylarking (ALTAFAAN), a heavy relick of the Police In Helicopter (Jam2), Green Lion Crew's Rough Road (Soul Of The Lion), John John James' dubby Inna Rub A Dub Style & None Shall Escape The Judgement (Johnny Clarke), Inna Mi Yard (Jamstone Digital), England Be Nice (Don Carleon) and a wicked reality song, Knowledge is the Power, on the Abyssinians' Declaration Of Rights by Bryan Art.  Also featuring the Children Of The Emperor Megamix (UTH Music/Uprising) which mixes up the legendary 70's roots original by Albert Malawi with daughter Hempress Sativa's fresh update and a SiamRootsical dub special. Check the Hempress Mixtape by Yabai... Its the Weed Thing...

Rebel Souljah - Positive Reggae Music

Rebel Souljah Mixtape 2013

It's been a great 12 months for modern roots reggae with a mini-revival going on ending a 3-4 year lull. New generation of artists, fresh sounds.
Main feature here is Royal Order's MASSIVE Selassie Souljahz Megamix featuring Chronixx, Sizzla, Kabaka Pyramid, Protoje and some seriously heavy versions from Addis Pablo & The Suns Of Dub. RUFF... The Rootsman riddim is revisited, this time showcasing the Iba Mahr, Jah9 & Chronixx cuts. Nuff Chronixx in dub! ...and he's hitting the UK next week! Check his new VDO Here Comes Trouble. Also featuring a rootsy excursion with Ja group Dubtonic Kru on the Izez riddim and tracks by singer Bryan Art from his excellent self-titled LP for ALTAFAAN. Preview it on SoundCloud. Silent Warrior is a killer reality selection by singjay Tydal (Train-Line Records). It takes a few plays to lock itself into the consciousness. @tydalmusiq Eddie Murphy's remarkable but very catchy Red Light is essential, the surprise of the summer. @eddiemurphy Singer Jah comes with another powerful reality selection Help For The Youths (Reggaeland) top tune!

Righteous riddim like the Re-Birth (Firehouse), a relick of Frankie P's Rub-A-Dub Market (Irievibrations), Izez (RPR), Rough Road (Soul Of The Lion), Rootsman (Overstand), Swing Heavy-Swing Easy (Bizarri) & Fugitive (Wile Fya). Jah9 gets the steamers a bubbling on Chinna Smith's Inna Di Yard (Shambala/Hit Bound), a tuff update of an original 70s Channel One rhythm tracK
