Ronnie Davis - I Man Gotta Go Home Tribute Mix

Roots Outernational present...
Tribute to Ronnie Davis
I Man Gotta Go Home

Big salute to the legendary singer and Tennors / Itals mrmber who passed away peacefully last week aged 67 after over 50 years in the music business. He began recording at Treasure Isle and Studio One with the Tennors before embarking on a prolific solo career with many producers, most notably Bunny Lee and Lloyd Campbell in the 70s. He joined vocal group the Itals in the 80s. This humble Lion's songs and voice will live on for time to come...   Roots Outernational bring niceness every time, dropping nuff hits from the 60s into the 80s here, give thanks.. respect due.

Ronnie's career was revived lately. partly due to social networking which had brought him closer to his international fan-base. His final LP Iyahcoustic only just came out last year and was his first in a decade. See the video clip of I Won't Cry an update of his 1974 hit..

Struggle Inna Babylon Mixtape 2017

Struggle Inna Babylon 2017

Conscious selection of mostly fresh roots tunes from Yard & broad. Chanting down Babylon, battering down oppression...

Riddim like the mighty Warrior Charge (Necessary Mayhem/Dureco) and Addis Pablo's In My Father's House (Jahsolidrock). Also revisiting two great Overstand productions with more deadly cuts on the Maad Sick Reggaeville and Retro Locks (Golden Locks). Showcasing some crucial tracks from the latest Jah9 and Kabaka mixtapes. The excellent Energy taken from Runkus' debut album has a real Ijahman style vibe. Jungle is the new single by emerging roots reggae group Dub Division outta Hamburg. Alto Grado (high grade) is the lead single from Dactah Chango's Ansestral LP and one for the herbalists. Toke's Frizzle rides a flying-cymbals style rhythm track and is taken off his Wake Up In Kingston LP while Judge is the title track of Amlak Redsquare's uncompromisingly tuff new album. Rass Motivated follows on from his excellent Who Am I lp from 2013 with a new single Point Of You from his antipated upcoming 2nd set

Continuous mix 79 minutes

More thanks to Boomrush Records for sending us some of these tunes
