Reggae people everywhere unite to speak out about #Gaza Organise educate. Wholesale death & suffering cannot be ignored
Core values truth & rights, human rights & justice, equality under heavy manners. THE TIME IS NOW RASTA ✊🏼🇲🇱🇵🇸 Kick up a rumpus to #FreePalestine
Many are uneasy about the whole topic. Sure, nuff reggae artists have a soft spot for the Holy Land and anything to do with scripture, but this is a struggle to safeguard the most basic human rights and nothing less. While one might have played the old "Rasta nuh deal with politics" card that no longer holds water as the situation went well beyond just simple politics many months, if not decades, ago. Rastafari always stood up for the dispossessed, the underprivileged, the downtrodden, the innocent victim and we can't just turn out backs now because Israelis are the perpetrators.
Peter Tosh refused to play concerts in Israel and openly showed support for Palestine from as early as 1979 and this is the line that must be taken now. There's seldom been a cause more worthy of speaking out against in recent decades and doing so would boost reggae's relevance and credibility immeasurably. Now's the time for action, not for more safe lyrics and mild banalities seen!
WE NEED TO BE SEEN MAKING A STAND NOW WHEN IT COUNTS THE MOST. The situation is critical in Gaza but this is, I believe, a crucial watershed for reggae movements also... Rasta music has been drifting along comfortably for too long now - time to take aim & blaze fyah!
Will we stand or will we fold?
