A first truck load of Bob Dylan related songs.... cover versions, songs that inspired Bob or were inspired by Bob, old-time
folk & blues songs that Bob has been known to play.... In short,
just a whole heap of great Dylan stuff & more performed by a range of amazing
artists plus frequent co-conspirators over the years like Joan Baez & The Grateful Dead. Not to forget longtime Dylan collaborators
supreme; The Band. Tribute to them here likewise. Oh, and yes, it
features a few cameos from both The Band and the man himself, the one
& only, the indominable Mr Bob Dylan
Part 2 - Ramblin' Round From Town To Town
Part two powers on in the same vein... Bob Dylan originals together with
miriad cover versions & influences. Other longtime associates like Tom Petty, George
Harrison, Johnny Cash & Willie Nelson step into the spotlight.
Roving guitarist and activist Woody Guthrie was a major influence on the
artist who went on to become Bob Dylan. Slightly more of a rock & blues vibe on part 2
Part 3 - Lily Of The West
Chill out to part three as we move into country-folk territory. Bob got
more & more interested in the genre as the 1960s progressed and,
together with The Band, cooked up their signature blend of folk &
country going into the 70s. As usual there are covers of Bob songs and
Bob covers of other's music along with influences and songs by the
influenced. Special tribute to folk artist and native rights activist
Peter LaFarge and also to the great Hank Williams. All star finale.
Part 4 -Outlaw Blues
The fourth & final instalment of the Dylan tribute sessions rocks
the heaviest. A whole heap of rocking cover versions & Dylan-related
material, along with music from more artists who have inspired the man. Spotlight
on legendary folk singer & native rights activist Peter LaFarge as
well as songs by longime co-conspirators Phil Ochs, Pete Seeger, Joan
Baez, Mark Knopfer George Harrison, Tom Petty & The Band. Also
featuring the man himself, Bob Dylan. The tempo cools off later of with a selection of
folk and ballads.
A total 147 tracks spread over 4 mixes & a mammoth 10 hours.
Features 18 Dylan originals, 107 songs penned by Dylan, including 99
cover versions of Dylan songs & then a lot of Dylan related tracks
written by others. Two or three of the songs here enjoy being done over
twice by different artists. There are probably enough alternative versions to make another 4 mixes but i reckon that I've managed to cherry pick the cream of the crop here & think we've captured the majority of Bob's best songs already too. I've enjoyed putting this one together as it makes a real good
change to hear all of these amazing songs sung with such variety. Enjoy!
Whatever our thoughts about the political process, the age-old reality remains the same, it always boils down to one basic constant: POWER vs PEOPLE (& then PEOPLE VS POWER). Public debate has degenerated to the level of schoolyard screaming matches, loudest wins, with perilous consequences as we're seeing right now in the UK. Numbers is everything so its more important than ever for all of us to rise & let our voices be heard in whatever small way we can. We cannot allow cancel culture and ignorance to predominate.
Israel Vibration - Same Song
Peter Tosh - Downpressor Man
Yes sir, times have never been tougher in the UK in my memory. The country's been bled dry by venture capitalists to the point where nothing seems to work anymore while working people are treated with disdain, having no life security while being chronically under-rewarded for their endeavors. Meanwhile, to say that there's a housing & homelessness crisis is a gross understatement. Most people feel it and the majority of us are vunerable nowdays :- PERILOUS BRITANNIA. Love or hate it, the globalisation cat was well out of the bag long ago and little can be done to reverse it now (actually, we've had globalisation for 500 years already but it used to be strictly the domain & perogative of white men). Anyhow, we can't just turn the clock back even if we wanted to. History shows that little or nothing has been acheived by attacking the weaker sections of our society (think back to the jewish persecutions of 11th & 12th century England for example) never mind the fact that doing so is downright immoral. No, blaming immigrants and ethnic minorities for societal decay and attacking them will lead only to increased suspicion, distrust, friction and a further decline in the general quality of life for all. In my opinion its high time we quit all the infighting and turn our aim back on the root cause of this misery: BIG MONEY, the monster that has leeched us almost dry, together with their bloodhounds on Fleet Street - THE MEDIA and their executors in WESTMINISTER.
DEMAND better equity and a secure future for our fragile planet.
PUSH them to give the initiative back to the people so we can have a say in how we want to live and give the youth something real to aspire to.
FIGHT them to regain the lawful right to oppose unjust or environmentally destructive legislation, fascist regimes and illicit actions by corporations peacefully.
TURN THE HEAT on them to deal properly with the housing crisis & tenant's rights, forcing landlords to face up to their responsibility to society.
KEEP fighting for equal & accessible legal representation for all.
STOP blaming the others.
We're not looking for Judgement Day & neither are we asking the Earth.. just more equality in a better balanced, humane & peaceful world.
Bob Marley & The Wailers - Mix Up Mix Up
''They're so much stumbling blocks right in-a our way: Monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday; There's so much wanting, so much gaining, so much have done.Too much little mix-up''
About a decade ago Donald Trump helped open a pandora's box internationally, ushering in a new era where politicians & people in general can do & say what the hell they want, sewing division, lies & confusion with impunity and spawning public cancel culture but just look where that's bloody got us all now! No matter how many diversions & distractions are put in our way the struggle remains unchanged. People must STOP THE FUSSING & FIGHTING AND PULL TOGETHER TO DEMAND INCREASED WAGES, BETTER EQUALITY & MORE RIGHTS SO THAT WE CAN GET ON WITH BUILDING A BRIGHTER, GREENER FUTURE. REGGAE-ITES! FIGHT THE POWERS THAT BE!!!

Charting
a timeline of popular revolt & rebellion through music & song.
The legacy of these ancient songs and commentaries on the events they
portray have long been championed by folk singers & musicians while
politically-minded punk bands in turn looked to the them for inspiration, passing
on the tradition & messages to wider audiences & subsequent
generations
Songs from as long back as the Great Revolt 1381 &
Digger's Rebellion 1649, then the war years, Miners Strike 1984, Poll
Tax 1990 & the CJB 1990s and songs that record numerous other events
& atrocities. Not forgetting the current HOUSING CRISES & the
unspeakable erosion of civil rights as exemplified by the current JUST
STOP OIL strugges. Free the M25 Five!
The legends & music of olden revolts crossed the
Atlantic with the colonists where the protest tradition flourished, assimilating different styles and creating new musical channels of communication

Giant debt of gratitude to Chumbawamba for their English Rebel Songs LP from 1988
Protest songs and 'music for life' from Thailand in folk and rock styles.รวมเพลงเพื่อชีวิตเก่า ๆ ดัง ๆ นักร้องต่าง ๆ ฉันชอบฟังเพลงแบบนี้ทั้ง30กว่าปีแล้ว
Living through the 1991 uprising in Bangkok left me with a deep interest in Thai political history, popular movements on the left & their struggle for democracy. I started getting into songs of life music at that time which in turn encouraged me to learn the language to a higher level. The for life movement has various other expressions such as in literature, film and the arts though the music had arguably the greatest reach & impact.
Artists like Carabao, Pongsit Kampee & Caravan have been at the vanguard of this amazingly successful & pervasive genre of Thai music, their songs being closely linked to the political struggle while also focused on the lives of the regular, lower class of people. Though the 1980's into the 2000's Aed Carabao, a fantastic lyricist & performer, was pretty much the conscious voice of the nation, akin to the early 60's Bob Dylan and even Bob Marley. These guys are also culural icons, representing a certain artistic, long-haired, alternative lifestyle & ideal.

also make a short tribute to the great PEETAH MORGAN who passed last
month. We were all left dumbfounded shocked & saddened by this
completely unexpected news. I myself have been a big fan from right back
when Morgan Heritage first hit the scene in the mid-90s with Digital B.
This consumate songwriter's songs will live on and on....
A slight change of direction for this one. I've been revisiting some of the other
sounds that I've taken in over the years. While reggae was my first love I've always been open to other good forms of expression, just so long as the vibes are right
Folk, folk-rock, stoner rock &
psychedelic music and back again... Selections here focus largely on
the theme of PERPETUAL WAR and ideals of freedom, will this pestilence
that is humanity ever resolve to really pull itself together for the
general good? Sadly I very much doubt it.
