Watch out for the brand new 2019 Richie Spice mixtape dropping next...

Wha the World Gone To... Strictly conscious, positive vibes from St. Andrews rootsman Richie Spice 1998-2008. His first hit, Earth A Run Red on the Sweet River Rock (1998), took a few years to register. Its sunny melodies and solid rootsiness kinda worked its way into the consciousness, eventually being recognised as a sufferers classic with its apocalyptic world visions from the street. This essential theme is returned to with strings of tunes over the years... One of the top conscious artists of the 00s.
Na na na na na na naaa!

BIG riddim like the Jah Love, Truth & Rights, World Jam, Sweet River Rock, Giddimani, Passion, Righteous Youths, First Born, Real Rock, None A Jah Jah Children, 5th Element, Ali Baba, Save The World, Rub-A-Dub, Automatic, Its Raining...

Features Chuck Fender, Jah Mason, Choppa Chop, King Kong, Chezidek, Anthony B, DYCR, Fantan Mojah, Lutan Fyah, Capleton, Moses-I, Perfect, Little Hero, Jah Cure, Chrisinti, Turbulence, Luciano, Bascom X, Etana, Morgan Heritage, I-Wayne, Alison Hinds, Ginjah and Bonner brothers Spanner Banner & Pliers.

Vaughn Benjamin Propaganda Live

Devastating news
Vaughn Benjamin of Midnite & Akae Baka passed away suddenly a couple of days ago aged 50 amid plans for a tour next year.

A true original, Midnite gained a huge international following with their particular brand of deep roots reggae. Charasmatic, enigmatic, mysterious and at times hypnotic Benjamin's music really struck a chord while his uncompromisingly conscious lyrics often require serious listening to fully digest his messages. But it is the Benjamin brother's melodic chanting that really pulled people in. Its a real shame that he never got to perforn here in the UK.

Vaughn has left us an amazing legacy. With an astounding 72 albums since 1989 there is plenty for us to absorb in the years ahead. Rest in power bredren.

Deh Pon Di Jolly Bus

Rewind Show on rastfm.com 1st Nov 2019
Deh Pon Di Jolly Bus
As we continue updating the archives after the 10th anniversary of this blog here's a selection of laid back reggae and lovers rock from 2008. Remastered and augmented to 2 hours

Continuous mix

We took our fair trade festival stall all round the UK for many years and so I originally made many of the early mixtapes to play at festivals & on the road. When I went on to start the blog in 2009 streaming hadn't yet taken off and so mixes were strictly for download had to be under 80mins to fit on cd. The shackles have long since come off with streaming and new technology so the mixes just got longer and longer...

Selections here were distilled from 2 original mixes -
Smooth Ride & Joy & Sorrow Showcase
Excursions on the January Morning (Free Willy), Love Potion & Drop Leaf (Don Carleon), Hard Times (Gibbo), Kemar McGregor's vibsy Drop It (No Doubt), Let Go (Rootsdown), Heavenly (Don Carleon), No Combo/Breakfast In Bed (Nicetime), Real Rock (Xterminator) and Fresh Ear's Guardian Angel

Some great tracks by German-SA singer Joy Denalane.
