Summer Solstice Free Festival Special
Punky Reggae Party '89
Going back to another time and space... back to the heady days of free festivals, the convoy, 'new age' travelers an' all that... Focus is on bands who played the festival circuit in the late-80s, leading with RDF aka Radical Dance Faction aka Military Surplus.
Continuous mix 2 hours
The UK free festival scene that begun in the late 60s basically ended with Castle
Morton in '92 after which our rights & freedoms were heavily
curtailed. Years following Stonehenge 'Battle of the Beanfield' 1985
were marked by clashes with police & political activism in line with
the Miner's Strikes and Poll Tax riots and were a last hurrah for the
alternative lifestyle before pay2go culture completely took over. Hard drugs also took their toll. Bring back the
old freedoms, squatters rights & some of that super hashish!
Massive respect to RDF.

DeletePaul kerp up the good works always much appreciated. So many memories on this mix and a lot of dancing in the moonlight too. Lucky enough to have seen Misty in Roots at Stonehenge in early 80's. Sugar Minnott and Coxsone also played at the biggest and bestest Free Festival in early 80's. Punky Reggae Party!
