Not Fire Not ICE

Not Fire Not ICE ...Dysturbing Hystory of Iniquity

Greetings ites and bless. A fresh mixtape for y'all

Topical and heavily eclectic all-era music of resistance mixtape selection. From reggae to R&B, funk, rock, folk, soul & more... The session starts starts in a wonderfully hypnotic & melancholy style in tune with current moods but picks up pace to climax in fire later on. It concludes with calls for unity & steadfastness in the struggle from the likes of Stevie WonderLuciano, Tracy Chapman, Morgan Heritage & the great Bob Marley. Big tunes from Ziggy MarleyRichie Havens, Gil Scott-Heron, Sly StoneJoy Denalane, Jah9, & Ben Harper. Ms. Lauryn Hill burned up the studio during her 1992 solo Unplugged set, pure fya! Ronnie Benjamin hails from the Virgin Isles and was father to the late & legendary Vaughn Benjamin of reggae band Midnite. Got to Make it Someday is a real Caribbean folk gem, a heartfelt song of perseverance. B-side of a rare 7'' that came into my possession hidden within a large batch of 7s (Flash Records undated, early 70's?). Bruce Springsteen hit the world with undoubtedly his greatest single in 40 years: the heartfelt Streets of Minneapolis. Tom Morello & Rage Against the Machine are always right on in there (naturally) as they travelled to Minneapolis to show solidarity alongside Springsteen as self-professed outside agitators. The UK's Asian Dub Foundation turn the halogen lights on to the establishment and the corrupt wickedness of the system. Know your oppressors. Richie Havens' amazing 1993 acoustic cut of The Times They are a-Changin' exposes hidden depths to the Dylan Classic.

Dystopia, hysteria & iniquity breeds dissidence... Deeply disturbing scenes playing out cross the United States right now where gestapo styled goons are out to cause mayhem and destroy lives across comunities with blatent disregard for precedent, norms and, indeed, the law itself. The events are of deep concern to the wider world at large as we watch the US government break longstanding red lines and set a harmful example for would-be authoritarian leaders anywhere, including Reform in the UK & Germany's AFD who, if they could, would likely institute racial profiling, mass-deportations and impliment deeper, more radical & comprehensive population controls. It's crucial that people bond together & raise voices to combat the rise of fascism, attacks on our liberties & the continued billionaire/corporate induced impoverishment & degradation everywhere. People of all shades, backgrounds and political persuasions speak out and demand an end to it now. As Luciano sings, we're all in this thing together...
