Point Blank from the Observer Station - Niney productions. Double helping of ital Niney the Observer selections non-stop inna mixtape style. Over 150 cuts dating from the early 70s into the nid-80s. One of the truly great producers/arrangers of early roots reggae (and a notable songwriter/vocalist), Holness was responsible for some some of the best work by artists like Max Romeo, Big Youth, Freddie McGregor. Don Carlos, The Heptones, Dillinger and especially Dennis Brown who never bettered the work he did with the producer - songs like Cassandra, Africa, Ride On, Conqueror, Tenement Yard, Wolves & Leopards, Tribulation, So Long Rastafari, Westbound Train, Love & Hate, Here I Come Again, My Time..... Could have easily done a stand-alone D. Brown/Observer mix. Other big riddim include the Right Time, Blood & Fire, Rasta No Pickpocket, Satta, Slave Master, Rock On, Country Living, Rasta Bandwagon, Reggaematic, Rastaman Camp, Cassava Piece and the rolling steppers of Everyday Life among many others... Features three early Michael Rose songs including the original Guess Who's Coming To Dinner. He sounds like the Crown Prince on Freedom.
Rocking backing tracks from the Observers (actually Soul Syndicate & Revolutionaries), killer dubs mixes by King Tubby and Niney himself. No attempt has been made to keep any chronological order - the selections here just follow a vibe.
