SIAMROOTSICAL SEND OUT THANKS

SENDING OUT THANKS & RASPECT

TO EACH AND EVERY ONE...

THIS MONTH MARKS THE

10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THIS BLOG

MAY 2009 - 2019

Yes ites, at that time I had a backlog of mixtapes I'd done over the previous years and, after visiting other reggae blogs, I decided to publish my stuff to see wha 'appen.

I fully expected it to be taken down but was pleased to see several featured reggae artists effectively endorse the project by sharing it on social media.

Siamrootsical was thus one of the trailblazers of this kind of mix sharing in a reggae blog format. Remember, those were the days of Last FM when free streaming was far more limited (and frustrating) over the legal web than it is today since the advent of mass-participation web radio.

Extremely humble beginnings with visitor numbers at 10-20 a day & the occasional kind comments. Interest grew steadily over time though & we've now had over 900K visitors and nuff positive interactions plus a whole heap a collaborations. So I just wanna thank you all for the blessings guidance & oneness on this journey
Big word up to the TWITTER MASSIVES

STINGRAY ROOTS & CULTURE SESSION

STINGRAY RECORDS SPECIAL

Roots selections from 1994 up to now..

Rewind Show on rastfm.com 23rd March 2019

Champions of Yard-style music in England, STINGRAY RECORDS LONDON has been keeping UK reggae moving forward ever since the McLeod brothers founded the label in 1994. Their West London studio continues to record some of the biggest names in reggae music from Jamaica, the UK & further afield.
For a full bio & info visit their website http://stingrayrecordslondon.com/about

Over 50 tracks here by an impressive array of artists. Strictly culture selections here - we don't venture into the extensive Stingray lovers rock catalogue at all this time: perhaps another show...

Tuff riddim like the I Love King Selassie I, Free Up The Vibes, Rope In, Jah Love, Boops, Hypocrites, Craven Dog, Wolves & Leopards, Cuss Cuss, Peace & Love, Caution, the brutal Bloody City, Tamarind Juice, rootical updates of the Zion Pathway & None A Jah Jah Children plus the amazing Coxsone Dodd inspired Vampire.

This was my last session before I take a short break from broadcasting. We gotta move house this month so I need to focus all of my attention on that for a while (its a pain in the butt though its kind of exciting sametime). Looking forward to getting a new studio together and moving forward. Thanks as ever to all listeners and friends... Siamroots-ites, rastfm family, mixcloud reggae massive, twitter crew...BLESSUP

The Heptones Keep On Pushing - Tribute

THE HEPTONES - KEEP ON PUSHING

Special tribute on the Rewind Show

www.rastfm.com 22nd Feb 2019

One of the most influencial vocal groups ever, Leroy Sibbles, Earl Morgan and Barry Llewellyn, came together in 1965. They went on to voice a long string of classic hits for Coxsone Dodd up to 1971 in rocksteady and then reggae styles. The 1st half of this mix is pure Studio One.

The trio went on to record essential LPs with, among others, Harry J's, Lee Perry, Niney the Observer & Joe Gibbs right through the 70s. Leroy Sibbles eventually left the Heptones to pursue a solo career in 1978 so roots man Naggo Morris was invited to step up & join the group. Their last really big hit came in 1980 - Mr Ska Bean'a with Alton Ellis - a massive tune!

Out of the GG's Records Stable

Irie Sundays Show on Rastfm
3rd Feb 2019

GG's Records' releases early 70s - early 80sAlvin Ranglin productions were deeply influenced by the music of a bygone era - the folk-roots of rural Jamaica - mento - Stanley Beckford's music especially. Cultured vocal harmonies from the Starlights. Roots and revival selection with plenty of singer-deejay combinations as many famous names pass through. Some of the most vital 12' cut's from the 1970s like CHUNNIE YU MY NUMBER ONE, I TRUST YOU and BORDER
