COXSONE ROCK STEADY SPECIAL
Rewind Show on rastfm.com 14th June 2019
Many of the greatest and most versioned rhythm tracks ever were composed in the creative cauldron of late-60's Jamaica and a high percentage of them came out of the famous studio at Brentford Road. While real heavy musical improvisations were just getting started, the tempo slowdown from ska to rocksteady was already providing more creative space for musicians and singers alike setting the stage for reggae. Jumpy, melodic and easy on the mind, its long been my favorite style of foundation music.
Nuff rare and hard to find 7s & 12s on the Coxsone, Studio One, Supreme, Island & Scotty labels. Some of these tracks were re-issued in the 70s & 80s on LP or in discomix format with updated mixing that gives out a whole different vibe. You will spot it 🤩😜
Continuous mix. 2 hours
