LoveReggaeMusic Episode 4 - 27 May 2017
I've dusted off my 1st 2 C90 mix tape attempts from back in 1985. We revisit those vibes in episode 4. Basically an early - mid 80s roots & pre digital dancehall selection of JA & UK productions. The contentious idea that reggae died with Bob is thrown on its head as this was a creative, vibrant era in reggae music. Dancehall riddims sat easily alongside rootsier material prior to the rise of the Casio-built tune.
Productions from Prince Jammy, Volcano, Jah Life, Chris Cracknell, Power House, Clive Hunt, Taxi Gang, Roy Cousins, Clive Jarrett, Gussie Clarke, Lee Perry and others. Ini Kamoze, Burning Spear, Dennis Brown, Half Pint, Eek A Mouse, Mikey Dread, Pablo Moses, Mutabaruka, Sugar Minott, Papa Levi, Tippa Irie, Yellowman, Black Uhuru, Peter Tosh, Ijahman, Aswad, Steel Pulse, Johnny Osbourne, Misty In Roots, Barrington Levy, Twinkle Brothers, Rita Marley, Gregory Isaacs, Frankie Paul & much more..
Respect due to Mikey - the Brixton Rat
