SiamRootsical Roots & Culture Mix 2013

Roots N Culture Mix 2013

Looking back on a great year for roots reggae as the excitement builds around a new generation of conscious artists. Jah9's New Name album is a modern classic while Chronixx visited the UK to wide acclaim alongside deejay Dre Island who broke through this year with some tuff sides like Find Dem Flaw and What Is Mine Is Mine. Check his Rastafari Way Mixtape by king I-Vier. Kabaka Pyramid keeps dropping tune after essential tune (like Liberal Opposer & Worldwide Love featured here). Check his new EP, Lead The Way, on Soundcloud. Lutan Fyah's new album Life Of A King is perhaps his best LP to date, thanks in part to some cutting edge production from Grillaras. See the release material on Reggaeville. Deejay Chuck Fenda makes a long overdue return with a new LP, Jah Element, for John John. Preview two tracks on the mixtape, combinations with longtime spar Junior Reid and Johnny Clarke. Lloyd Brown keeps the revival vibes flowing throughout his excellent Rootical LP, an earthy collaboration with producers Zion High. Vocalist Sara Lugo continues to impress with her Smile of a Child for Flash Hit Records.

Usual mix of updated classic riddim and originals. Selection like the Worldwide Love (Flash Hit), a thunderous update of Horace Andy's Money Money (Grillaras), Skylarking (ALTAFAAN), a heavy relick of the Police In Helicopter (Jam2), Green Lion Crew's Rough Road (Soul Of The Lion), John John James' dubby Inna Rub A Dub Style & None Shall Escape The Judgement (Johnny Clarke), Inna Mi Yard (Jamstone Digital), England Be Nice (Don Carleon) and a wicked reality song, Knowledge is the Power, on the Abyssinians' Declaration Of Rights by Bryan Art.  Also featuring the Children Of The Emperor Megamix (UTH Music/Uprising) which mixes up the legendary 70's roots original by Albert Malawi with daughter Hempress Sativa's fresh update and a SiamRootsical dub special. Check the Hempress Mixtape by Yabai... Its the Weed Thing...

Continuous mix. 79 minutes
